Ross's design is inspired by the Willow Chair by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, which is made in 1904 for the Willow Tearooms located in Glasgow. Similar to Mackintosh's other creations, the Willow Chair gives more importance to appearance rather than comfort - its unconventional dimensions make it more like a sculptural piece rather than practical furniture.
